Fun with Mobile Games
Author: admin
Mobile games are video games which are played on mobile phones. These are growing fast and the trend is expected to grow and become as big as the mobile music market. Playing games on mobile phone has become a favorite pastime by many people all over the world. Mobile phone games are very accessible forms of entertainment. You can play a game wherever you are at whatever time as long as you have your mobile phone with you. It is also the inherent nature of mobile phone games that you can pick it up when you feel like playing and then pause or stop the game when you are already busy. What is more, mobile phone games are practically inexpensive forms of instant entertainment - a great proposition especially for those who are very conscious about their expenses (especially their entertainment expenses). Because of the recent advances in mobile phone technology, mobile phone games are becoming more and more sophisticated as the years progress. We are so far away from its infancy, as famously represented by the moving gray pixels of Snake. We now see fully immersive graphics that are in full color, well rendered and, in some cases, even come in 3D. Mobile phones have transcended its original purpose for mobile communications. It is has also morphed into a portable gaming device.
Just like other gaming platforms, mobile games also come in different genres. There are action games, strategy games, puzzles, simulations, there are even highly specialized genres like first person shooters and stealth games. One genre though that would otherwise look strange inside a mobile phone but surprisingly works in the real world are role playing games. When you first consider it, role playing games or RPGs do not seem like such a good idea when played on mobile phones. There are limited controls, which limit not only the movement and action but the customization options as well. The limited screen real estate would also severely limit the immersive experience that is part and parcel of any good role playing game.

Development of Mobile Games

The first cell phone game was Snake, which was first released in 1997 as an embedded application for Nokia phones. It’s doubtful that the Finnish mobile icon knew at the time that this simple addition would forever alter the function of a cell phone. With Snake, and tons of mobile games that followed, cell phones became much more than just communication devices and became a mode of entertainment for the modern age. What is the fascination with video gaming? Well, for the most part we are obsessed with gadgets and technology overall. And, the fact that millions of video games are sold every year and people slept outside as long as three days just to have the chance to get their hands on Play station 3 supports this. And if you saw the news reels, many were not kids and teenagers but grown-ups who could not wait to get their hands on the new console.
With the increasing number of mobile users, the entertainment industries have shown a keen interest in adding witty games to attract constructive minds. As a result, mobile games are far more popular than PC and console games. The answers to the fascination with mobile games may be more simplistic. While gaming in general whether, computer, console or hand held is huge business, and an activity which people spend a lot of money and ample time weekly engaging in whether alone or with friends and family, mobile games probably serve a little different and more pragmatic purpose. For example, while commuting on a train to work or to pass the time waiting in a doctor’s waiting room. And, while video games can be a much more social event, mobile games are usually played solo, and is a great way to engage the mind and create a fun activity anywhere and anytime. Also, while the gaming hobby can be a significant expense, mobile games are very cheap, and there are many standard free games that come with most cell phones.
Today, there are hundreds of different mobile games to suit any fancy. From, quiz games like Trivial Pursuit, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, to card and board games, arcade, racing, shoot ‘em up, 3D, brain twisters, lifestyle games, and many more, there is a game to suit everyone and anyone.
